A headless university in Punjab gets caretaker VC

Punjab government has given the charge of vice chancellor of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGNDPSOU), Patiala to administrative secretary higher education, Punjab government
As per the order issued administrative secretary, higher education, Punjab will hold the charge till further orders.
As per available information the founder vice chancellor Prof Karamjit Singh was relieved from the post of vice chancellor on December 9,2024. After that, till today, Punjab’s lone Open University remained headless, without any regular or officiating vice chancellor.
Prof Karamjit Singh joined Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as vice chancellor on December 10,2024.
As per available information, his extended term was ended on December 3,2024, but he was instructed by the government to continue. But, after his selection as VC, GNDU on December 9,2024 he immediately relieved from the post of VC, Jagat Guru Nanak Dec Punjab State Open University, Patiala.
At present KK Yadav, IAS is the administrative secretary higher education.
Till date no regular vice chancellor is appointed in various universities of Punjab. Punjabi University is one of the major university which is running without any regular, officiating vice chancellor.
