ADC (D) Mansa, inaugurates Microenterprise Center established by TSPL

Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL), Punjab’s largest thermal power plant established a microenterprise centre at Karamgarh Autanwali village of districtMansa under its flagship project TARA. The centre was inaugurated by T Benith, ADC(D), Mansa in presence of Pankaj Sharma, COO, TSPL.
The microenterprise centre is equipped with different kinds of machines for production of office file covers and jute bags etc. Over 60 Self Help Group women have received training to operate these machines and are currently engaged in production of file covers and other items. TSPL’s project TARA (TSPL Action for Rural Ajeevika) implemented by Ambuja Cement Foundation (ACF) aims at training and supportingwomen members of Self Help Groups formed under Punjab State Rural Livelihood Mission(PSRLM)with appropriate skillsand linking them withincome generation opportunities. In an attempt to encourage women SHG members the office of District Administration Mansa has placed an order for procurement of file covers produced by women associated with TARA common facility centre.
T. Benith ADC(D) Mansa appreciated TSPL’s effort and said, “I take this opportunity to acknowledge the efforts made by TSPL CSR team along with its implementing partner ACF and the support extended by its management for establishing this microenterprise centre. This file production unit is a first of its kind initiative in the state of Punjab where women SHG members are engaged in office file cover production. I am sure that this will set a new trend and we will also promote these file covers in other government offices.”

On this ocassion Pankaj Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, TSPL said, “TSPL remains committed to supporting communities for a decent lifestyle. I express my sincere gratitude towards ADC(RD) for his continued support, encouragement, and reposing trust in this initiative. It is a matter of great pride that first consignment for file covers is received from the district administration and I am confident that by sheer dint of your grit and determination youwill fulfill this consignment on time. I am sure that your enthusiasm and zealous efforts will help raise the bar and set new milestones for others in the region to emulate.”
The program culminated with felicitation of SHG women members.
