AGM of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) held at Government Bikram College of Commerce

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) for the academic year 2025-2026 was held under the guidance of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata at Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala, on October 4, 2025. The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the beginning of the proceedings in a positive and auspicious manner.

The meeting was formally opened with a welcome address by Dr. Reetu Kapoor, the Finance Secretary of the PTA. In her address, Dr. Kapoor extended a warm welcome to all attendees and presented a detailed, audited financial report outlining the PTA’s activities and expenditures for the previous year. This report highlighted the transparent management of funds and the PTA’s efforts to contribute to the welfare of the college

Dr. Reetu Kapoor then presented the audited annual statement of the PTA, providing a comprehensive overview of the financial status, including income, expenditure and the allocation of resources for various initiatives.

The PTA secretary declared the committee selected for the year 2025-26. The College Principal is the president. Amita Singla was elected as the senior vice President, Dr.Paramjit Kaur vice president, Sunil Garg Secretary (Parent), Dr. Rekha Rani (College Bursar), Dr.Reetu Kapoor as Finance secretary. Chatwant Kumar, Nagesh Gupta, Amit Sharma, Harish Singh, Bharat Bhushan, Neeru Rani are the members of PTA from among the parents and Asst. Prof. Satinder Kaur, Asst. Prof. Kavita Garg and Librarian Sukhbir Kaur are members of PTA from among the teachers.

This announcement marked the official constitution of the PTA committee for the year 2025-2026, which will oversee and coordinate activities aimed at enhancing cooperation between parents and the college administration.

The AGM was a significant event, promoting transparency and accountability within the PTA. It also reinforced the commitment of both parents and teachers to work collaboratively for the betterment of the institution and its students. The new committee is expected to bring fresh energy and ideas for the upcoming academic year.

The college Principal emphasized that strong collaboration between parents and teachers forms the foundation of a thriving academic environment. She also appreciated the collective efforts of the parents and staff to make the institution secure a place in the NIRF 2025 rankings for the second consecutive year. Rtd. Principal Dr. R.K Sharma, Rtd. Principal Dr. Neelamjit Kaur, Rtd. Librarian B.P Dhiman, Harbans Lal Bansal and C.A Anil Arora also graced the occasion with their presence. The entire staff members were also present on this occasion.

The Executive Body meeting of Bikram Alumni Global Association (BAGA) was also held the same day in which the College Principal thanked the Alumni members for being the strongest pillar of support. The meeting was followed by the meeting with members of Higher Educational Institute Society (HEIS) Regd.
