AIIMS Bathinda organized hybrid CME on dead body donation

The Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, AIIMS Bathinda organized 1ST Hybrid CME on Medicolegal issues in dead body donation on 13th February (Saturday) 2021 through a combined online and physical mode. Objective of this CME was to spread awareness amongst the medical fraternity at National as well as International level regarding current practice and procedure of body donation in India. Considering the ongoing pandemic, it was the 1st time such an event was held in physical-cum-digital mode at such a large scale with participation from around 480 National and International delegates. In this CME, we have registered 480 participants from various medical colleges in India and almost all premier institutes including all AIIMS, PGIEMER, Jipmer, CMC Vellore, MAMC, RIMS Ranchi, RML Lucknow, KEM Mumbai, KMC Manipal etc. We have also registered some of the participants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Jakarta, Abu Dhabi UAE, Geneva, Bangladesh, etc.

The event started with welcoming the dignitaries -Dr. Satish Gupta (Dean & MS), Professor Akhilesh Pathak, Organizing Chairperson and Dr. Ajay Kumar, Organizing Secretory of CME and Dr. Lajya Goyal and Col. Devinder Rawat. The Chief Guest of CME, Director, AIIMS Bathinda Dr. Dinesh Kumar Singh inspired everyone by a motivational message and Dr. Satish Gupta congratulated the entire organizing team for this initiative of organizing first hybrid event.

The CME began with introduction of the theme by the organizing chairperson, Professor Pathak emphasizing the importance & need of body donation in India. All the esteemed guest speakers comprising most parts of northern India (Delhi, Punjab, Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan) enlightened the participants with their knowledge covering all aspects of body donation such as current scenario, practice & public perspective in India, Medico-legal issues, process of donation and processing of dead body along with Punjab Anatomy Act. Apart from the MBBS students and in-house faculty of various department of AIIMS Bathinda, other guest from Adesh Medical College also attended the CME. This CME followed by a detailed Panel discussion inviting questions from all the participants and concluded with a valedictory program and vote of thanks by Dr. Rattan Singh, AIIMS Bathinda.
