AAP makes clean sweep in Rupnagar district; CM Channi, speaker Rana KP Singh lose their seats

Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) made a clean Sweep winning all the three assembly seats of Rupnagar district with Congress heavyweights like Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi,Punjab assembly speaker Rana KP Singh .Punjab youth Congress president Brinder Singh Dhillon and Akali leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema and BJP leader Iqbal Singh Lalpura biting the dust in the hustings.
In Chamkaur Sahib (reserved) constituency chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi lost to Dr.Charanjit Singh of AAP by a margin of 7942 votes. Channi was polled 62306 votes while Dr.Charanjit Singh was polled 70248 votes.
In Anandpur Sahib constituency Punjab assembly speaker Rana KP Singh lost to Harjot Singh Bains of AAP by a margin of 45780 votes.Harjot Bains was polled 82132 votes as against 36352 votes polled to Rana KP Singh.
In Rupnagar constituency Punjab youth Congress president Brinder Singh Dhillon lost to Dinesh Chadha of AAP by a margin of 23632 votes. Dhillon was polled 36271 votes as against 59903 votes polled to Chadha.Shiromani Akali Dal candidates Dr Daljit Singh Cheema was polled 22338 votes while Iqbal Singh Lalpura was polled 10067 votes.
Dr.Charanjit Singh,Harjot Bains and Dinesh Chadha thanked the voters for their victory and said that they would try to come up to the expectation of the people.
Meanwhile,Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Sonali Giri thanked voters of the district for help the administration in conducting the election process peacefully.
