The Punjab Government has launched a significant historical and educational initiative dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Anniversary of the Ninth Guru, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Under this initiative, the life and supreme sacrifice of Guru Sahib will be taught to students across all government and private schools in Punjab through curriculum integration and special activities. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains inaugurated this campaign today during ceremonies held at Government High School Dasgrai and Mount Carmel School Jindwari.
On this occasion, the Education Minister said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji is a symbol of humanity, faith, and communal harmony. He stated that Guru Sahib’s sacrifice was not only for the Sikh community but for the entire world—for the protection of religion and the rights of the oppressed. Therefore, it is very important for the new generation to understand the great heritage they have inherited.
As part of this campaign, students will be introduced to the life of Guru Sahib through special lectures, poetry recitations, speech competitions, essay writing, art activities, and religious-historical books. Large-scale commemorative programs will be organized in schools so that the teachings and sacrifice of Guru Sahib become deeply instilled in the minds of students.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Varjit Walia, Assistant Commissioner Abhimanyu Malik, and SDM Jaspreet Singh were also present. All officials highly appreciated this initiative by the Education Minister, stating that this step is not merely about teaching history but is also a major move towards character building and the strong establishment of human values among the youth.
Education Minister Bains said that the government’s objective is not only to impart knowledge but also to instill courage and a vision of life in students that will make them responsible, sensitive, and self-reliant individuals. On this sacred occasion, he appealed to all teachers to convey Guru Sahib’s teachings to students with love and dedication.
