All set for former Punjabi University professor to get clean chit from Syndicate

On March 21,2024, syndicate meeting is going to be held at Punjabi university, Patiala at 12:15 pm under the command of officiating vice chancellor Prof Karamjeet Singh.
As per sources, an agenda is placed in tomorrow’s syndicate meeting to give clean chit/ exonerate former professor of Punjabi University, Patiala Pushpinder Singh Gill from ongoing inquiries.
Gill was suspended in May 2023, few months before his retirement. He was the senior most professor of the university at that time when
Punjabi University, Patala authorities had suspended him and chargesheet was issued to him. He was Professor, School of Management Studies, Punjabi University, Patiala campus.
As per sources around three enquiries were going on against him when was working. The university authorities had suspended him on the allegation of holding a permanent residency (PR) of a foreign country and not informing the same to Punjabi University or govt authorities. Punjab government had ordered the enquiry against him on holding PR of a foreign country. After the enquiry, the committee had recommended action against him. As per Punjab Civil Services Rules, this states that a government employee can’t hold a PR of another country.
He remained at loggerheads with the then vice chancellor Prof Arvind from the day one after his appointment.
Later he was relieved from his duty and after retirement benefits were released to him. But the inquiry was going on and he was asked to join the inquiry whenever a requirement arises.
As per available information, he is a contender for vice chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala post.
“Due to the ongoing inquiry, he can’t be selected for the prestigious post. So, an agenda is placed before the syndicate’s tomorrow meeting to clear all the charges and exonerate him from all the pending cases” said an officer on the condition of anonymity that is associated with the syndicate meeting of the university.
Another officer added ” Dr Pushpinder Singh Gill has a close proximity with chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.”
All set for former Punjabi University professor to get clean chit from Syndicate. Also, the university finance committee will meet to pass the budget before the syndicate meeting. The syndicate will also pass the budget of the university in its meeting.
