Amrit Kaur Gill takes charge as Fatehgarh Sahib DC

Amrit Kaur Gill, a 2010 batch IAS officer, assumed the charge as Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fatehgarh Sahib on Thursday here at District Administrative Complex. Previous DC, Dr Prashant Kumar Goyal, has been transferred and he left for his new assignment on Wednesday evening.
Before joining at Fatehgarh Sahib, Amit Kaur Gill has been working as Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s additional principal secretary.
Amrit Kaur Gill had broken the glass ceiling by becoming the first woman officer to be appointed in the Chief Minister Office (CMO).Capt Amarinder Singh, after taking the oath, immediately appointed her in CMO. At that time she was a PCS officer has moved to her new assignment as the deputy principal secretary to the CM after serving as the chief administrator of GLADA.
She also remained Director, Sports Department, Punjab.She also worked as in Punjab Excise and Taxation department and remained posted at Patiala, DETC Ludhiana etc.
She is an international champion in cycling. In 1979 she was the youngest player in a cycling championship held at Sri Lanka. He also represented India in 1982 in Asian cycling championship at Bangkok and World Cycling championship held in England .
Immediately after assuming charge, Gill said that along with speedy redressal of public grievances, she would also ensure the proper disposal of benefit of various social welfare schemes being run by the government.
