Annual conference on vaccinology held in govt medical college Patiala

An annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) on newer aspects of vaccination under the aegis of Indian Academy of Pediatrics (IAP), Indian Medical Association (IMA) was organized by pediatrics department of government medical college, Patiala.

During the CME , importance of adult vaccination and emergence of HPV infection was discussed. It stressed on that all the male and female children must be vaccinated between 9 yrs to 14 years age. This will decrease incidence of cervical cancer in females and oral and anal cancer in males.

All adults from 35 years to 65 years also should be vaccinated yearly for fly and also for pneumococcal infection which is becoming leading cause of morbidity and mortality.

Conference was attended by more than 100 delegates from all over Punjab and Haryana.

Medical superintendent of Maulana Azad medical college Dr Ashwini Sood was the key speaker.

Conference was inaugurated by director principal government medical college, Patiala Dr Rajan Singla, Dr Baljinder Kaur head of pediatric department, civil surgeon Patiala, distt immunization officer and Dr Harshindar Kaur professor pediatrics department.

Senior doctors from Mohali and Gian Sagar medical college also attended the conference which was huge success among young doctors.

Dr Bhagwant , former president IMA urged government to take up this issue of providing free vaccination of Human papillomavirus (HPV) for all .
