Another former Congress Minister arrested by Punjab vigilance bureau

Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested former food and civil supplies minister and Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu.
The Ludhiana Vigilance Bureau had earlier booked Ashu, former Minister of Food, Civil Supplies in the scam of allotting transportation tenders on fake registration numbers of vehicles.
Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau (VB) said that the Bureau, after verification of a complaint made by complainant Gurprit Singh, has already registered FIR No. 11 Dated 16-08-2022 u/s 420, 409, 467, 468, 471, 120-B IPC and 7, 8, 12, 13(2) Preventions of Corruption Act at VB police station Ludhiana in which contractors namely Telu Ram, Jagroop Singh and Sandeep Bhatia besides owner/partners of Gurdas Ram & Company has been booked.
As per available information, Ashu was arrested few minutes ago from a salon, at Model Town area of Ludhiana. Congress MP from Ludhiana Ravneet Singh Bittu was also present, when Ashu was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau from the salon. Futher details are awaited.
Another former Congress Minister arrested by Punjab vigilance bureau. Earlier Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau and he is still lodged in the jail.Bharat Bhushan Ashu is the second minister from the previous Congress government to have been arrested by the AAP government on corruption charges.
Earlier in the day, Congress workers from all over Punjab led by PPCC president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, staged a dharna in front of the office of Vigilance Bureau in Mohali, and within hours of this protest, the Vigilance Bureau initiated action against Ashu.
