Architect arrested by vigilance bureau for taking bribe

The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB), during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Wednesday has apprehended an Architect named Sahil Bihari Sharma while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.
Disclosing this here today an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Pirthipal Singh, a resident of Mirakot Chowk, Amritsar.
He further informed that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the said accused has demanded Rs 20,000 to help him in getting issued a no objection certificate (NOC) for sale of his shop from the officials of Municipal Corporation, Amritsar.
The spokesperson added that after preliminary investigation of this complaint a VB team has laid a trap during which the accused Architect was caught red handed while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
He added that in this regard a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at VB Police Station, Amritsar range. The accused would be produced in the competent court tomorrow and further investigation into this case was under progress.
