Army Colonel’s Assault Case,12 Punjab Police officials suspended in Patiala

Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Patiala Dr Nanak Singh has suspended 12 Patiala police officials including inspectors, ASIs, head constables, constables for thrashing Indian Army Colonel Pushinder Singh Bath on the intervening night of 13-14 March 2025.

While giving the information to a selected group of media persons, SSP Patiala Nank Singh also said that “taking disciplinary action against 12 those police officials, all are suspended and a time bound departmental enquiry has also been initiated against them. The departmental enquiry will be completed within 45 days as it’s a sensitive case. A FIR number 65 is lodged at civil lines police station.”

“The police have taken the medical legal report (MLR) of both the parties-Colonel Bath and Punjab Police officials” added SSP Nanak Singh. When asked to reveal the name of suspended officials, he said “we will share it later.”

Earlier on Saturday, while addressing a press conference in Patiala, Jaswinder Bath, wife of Col Pushpinder Bath, claimed that her husband along with their son reached a dhaba near Government Rajindra Hospital on the intervening night of March 13 and 14.

She claimed that while they were standing outside the car and having their food, the accused police officers reached the spot and asked the Colonel to remove his car as they had to park their car. “When my husband objected to their language, one of them punched him. Later, all the police personnel thrashed my husband and my son,” said Jaswinder.

She said that her husband and son were beaten using baseball bats and sharp-edged weapons because of which the colonel’s arm was broken and her son suffered a long incised cut on his head.

During a TV interview, Jaswinder Bath, alleged that they were assaulted by three officers, Inspector Harjinder Dhillon, Harry Boparai, and Rauni Singh of Patiala, along with their police officials.
