ASI commits suicide after being humiliated by SHO; SSP Hoshiarpur marked enquiry

Assistant sub inspector (ASI), Satish Kumar posted at Hariana police station in Hoshiarpur district has committed suicide with his service revolver.

Before committing the suicide, the slain ASI has recorded a video message and wrote a suicide note and gave the reason of his act.

In the video message and in his suicide note, he leveled humiliation, mental harassment allegations by another SHO, who came for night checking of Hariana police station.

As per ASI Satish Kumar recorded message, ‘On September 8, 2022 i am the duty officer at PS Hariana. At around 2:00 am in the morning ,SHO Tanda inspector Onkar Singh (in Hoshiarpur district) came for checking. The SHO Tanda asks him about the listing of number of cases in next morning at High Court. Satish Kumar gave the information. Than SHO asked the ASI, which case is listed, the ASI informed that only the concerned investigation officer (IO) knows about this. The SHO Tanda asked me irrelevant questions, not related to the duty officer. On this SHO got infuriated and starts shouting at me. The SHO start abusing me and used unparliamentarily language. He humiliated me. This act of the SHO Tanda disturbed me. Even, i asked him its better to shoot me rather than humiliating me . Before leaving the police station, the SHO Tanda registered adverse remarks in the “Rojnamcha” .In the morning, I informed everything to my SHO (Hariana). I’m mentally disturbed with this humiliation and I’m going to finish my life.’

When contacted the SSP Hoshiarpur, Sartaj Singh Chahal , he said “an enquiry has been marked to the superintendent of police (SP) investigation , Hoshiarpur and the SHO, Tanda has been transferred to the police lines, Hoshiarpur.

ASI commits suicide after being humiliated by SHO; SSP marked enquiry. SSP Chahal further appealed the police force of Hoshiarpur district to come directly to him for their problems, issues and he will try to solve them. He further added “we are with the family of ASI Satish kumar and will support them.”
