ASI loses his hand in a fight between Patiala police and Nihang Singh’s

An Assistant sub inspector (ASI) of Patiala police today loses his hand in a fight that erupted in the morning at sabzi mandi ,Patiala.

A Nihnag singh cut the hand of an ASI with a sword, injured SHO sadar Patiala along with other police personnel’s present on the occasion.

After the incident the injured ASI was immediately shifted to Govt Rajindra hospital and from their to PGI Chandigarh.

As per SSP Patiala Mandip Singh Sidhu, 4-5 Nihangs came in a four vehicle on the Sanur road. A mandi board official intercepted them and asked them where they are going and asked them to show the curfew pass. After a small argument between them, the Nihang Singh’s broke the barricade and stop their vehicle in front gate of the sabzi mandi, at sanour road Patiala.

Then Punjab police personnel’s stop them at the gate. After arguing with them they attacked the Punjab police personnel standing their, performing their duty. In the fight, a Nihang Singh cut a hand of an ASI’s hand, injuring others and ran away in their vehicle, after breaking the barricade. Patiala police chased them and after a few kilometer, they spotted them and arrested them.

Patiala SSP Mandip Singh Sidhu said ” we will register a case against them. But now we are more concerned about the health of our police officer.” He further said that we have contacted  and informed the higher authorities at Chandigarh and they had already tied up with the PGI authorities for best medical treatment to the injured cop.
