According to Dr. Gurpreet Singh Lehal of Punjabi university, the coordinator for written test for recruitment of Assistant Professors in Punjabi, said “a highly confidential process was followed for setting the question paper. A panel of nine experts from 5 Universities from Punjab and other states was formed to create a database of 600 questions. Each expert independently created his set of questions and no expert was aware of the questions set by other 8 experts. The task of creating the final question paper was accomplished by randomly selecting the 100 questions from the question Bank by a computer program. There was no question of leakage of the questions by the subject experts as no one knew the final questions that were selected by the computer program.”
He was commenting, after some candidates alleging discrepancies including exam paper leak, who had appeared in the ‘Punjabi examination’ ,in the recent drive of Punjab government to fill 1091 posts of assistant professors (college cadre) of various subjects.
Asst Prof exams row-Punjabi university authorities denies question paper leakage .Yesterday, while addressing the media at Khanna and Amloh, shiromani akali dal party president Sukhbir Singh Badal had asked CM Charanjit Singh Channi to explain why the entire examination for recruitment of 1,158 assistant professors had been fixed to recruit only research scholars and teachers of government colleges by awarding them an extra five marks and why the responsibility of setting the examination papers was given to guides of the research scholars. “The CM must also explain why University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines were not followed in the recruitment process and why the responsibility for the recruitment to the class one job had not been entrusted to the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC)”.
