Punjab Education Minister and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Harjot Singh Bains, today visited various flood-affected villages in his constituency following the discharge of water from the Bhakra Nangal Management Board (BBMB) into the Sutlej river. He visited in Lakshmi Narayan Mandir where some area of the temple was damages. He also visited in village Maujowaal and request people to shift to the safer areas. He also reached in bela dhiani upper, bela dhiani gujjar basti to review flood arrangements.

Bains inspected the damage caused to crops, houses, and roads, and personally interacted with local residents to assure them of full support from the administration. He emphasized that the district administration, along with volunteers, is working day and night to safeguard lives and provide relief.

Highlighting the arrangements made, Bains informed that his Nangal residence, Sewa Sadan 2 RVR, and his ancestral residence at village Gambhirpur have been fully opened to the public, where food, medicines, and other essential facilities are available. A 24/7 help desk has been established, and a dedicated helpline number 8727962441 is functional to assist people in need.

He also shared that many well-wishers have been offering financial contributions, but the administration does not require monetary help at this stage. Instead, he encouraged those who wish to contribute to extend their support through respected local religious leaders such as Baba Satnam Singh Ji, Baba Avtar Singh Ji, Baba Bal Ji, and Baba Ji Passiwal Wale, who are actively serving in the affected areas.

Bains further assured that shelter homes are fully equipped with food, water, and medical facilities, and motor boats have been deployed to support rescue operations. He lauded the tireless efforts of the youth, panchs, sarpanchs, and volunteers who are working on the ground.

He also noted that dozens of riverbanks, canals, and khuds have been repaired with the cooperation of local residents and the administration.

Expressing gratitude, Bains said: “We are thankful to God that till today, we have been able to save every human life. With everyone’s support, the time of recovery will begin within the next 2–3 days.”

Bains once again appealed to residents of low-lying areas to shift to designated shelters, urged people not to believe in rumours, and prayed for the safety and well-being of all.
