Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Diprava Lakra, on Tuesday, directed all the doctors and radiologists to maintain the record of all pregnant women patients visiting their centres for consultation and diagnosis purposes.
He was here to preside over a workshop being organised by the district administration in association with District Appropriate Authority-cum-Civil Surgeon. Diprava Lakra said that the early registration of the pregnant women would be helpful in identifying the suspects under PNDT Act (Pre Natal Diagnostic Test)and the centers will also be easily identified which execute sex determination test. He added that early registration will help the administration to provide better health services to the pregnant women along with proper nutrition.This will helpful for both the mother and the unborn child.
The Deputy Commissioner said that female feticide was one of the social evils of the society and governments were regularly working hard to wipe out the malpractice from the society. He said that under the Bati Bachao-Beti Padhao Campaign, the efforts were on to sensitize various sections of the society against female feticide. He directed all the Doctors, Radiologist, Ultra Sound Centers of Bathinda district to maintain their records properly. If anybody found in violating the law, he will be booked immediately.
Deputy Commissioner Bathinda Lakra also appealed the doctors and representatives of Indian Medical Association (IMA) to support the administration in identifying the suspects who were performing sex determination test in the region. He said that after the next round of census in the country, child sex ratio of Bathinda district will be improved to satisfactory level.
The workshop was attended by ADC Bathinda Dr Shena Aggarwal, Civil Surgeon Bathinda Dr HN Singh, ACS Dr. Kundan K Pal, DWFO Dr. Rawanjit Kaur Brar among all leading Gynecologists and scan center administrators of the district.They assure the Bathinda administration that they will not do any thing wrong and maintain their records properly.
