“I am cultivating wheat and paddy using modern tools and do not allow the fire to even come close to my farm. I will lose the fertility of the land and per acre yield also nose dives if I would burn the stubble,” he said. He added that other farmers too are guided by him and some of them listen to him as well.

Amarjit pointed out that setting the paddy residue on fire create environment hazard and causes many deadly diseases, the soil pests are also eliminated. In addition, the fertility of the land is also lost.

He stated that farmers are actually at loss if they burn the paddy stubble. They have to put extra efforts in the form of pesticides, fertilizers and other medicines to grow their crop. He said that we don’t burn the paddy then less quantity of fertilisers are used to grow the crop.
