BBMB gets new Chairman

The appointment committee of the cabinet (ACC) has appointed Manoj Tripathi , chief engineer , central electricity authority (CEA) as Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) on deputation basis for a period of 3 years.
On June 21,2023 Ministry of Power had given the additional charge of Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) to Nand Lal Sharma, CMD, “Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited” (SJVNL) from July 1,2023 for a period of three months or till appointment of regular chairman .
Its regular Chairman Sanjay Srivastava was retired on June 30,2023. Srivastava, was also Chief Engineer , Central Engineer, Central regulatory Authority before he was appointed as Chairman, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) on November 9,2020.
As per available information, Dr. Harinder Pal Singh Bedi, Chief Engineer/Managing Director Punjab Water Resources Management & Development Corporation Ltd., Water Resources Department, Punjab govt was also amongst the three finalists for the post of BBMB, Chairman, after the changed rules. His name was strongly recommended by the principal secretary of the department Krishan Kumar and by the state govt.
As per sources, the Search-cum-Selection Committee constituted for the purpose of selection of suitable candidate for appointment to the post of Chairman, BBMB has invited Dr. Harinder Pal Singh Bedi for personal interaction at New Delhi on June 15,2023 and after the meeting he has been shortlisted as finalist. The Search-cum-Selection Committee has shortlisted three candidates and forwarded the same to Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), which appoints several top posts.
