As per sources, “it’s a routine process in this season, to release water through turbines. At this point of time, there is no chance of opening of floodwater gates as the situation is under control. The Bhakra dam capacity is 1680 feet and at present its even less than 1630 feet.”

“ The residents of other Punjab areas like Patiala, Mohali etc need not to panicked due to release of extra water from Bhakra dam into the river Sutlej as it will not going to affect them in any way. The route of the water is on side and these districts are on the other side. Moreover the high level of water in the Bhakra Main Line (BML) passing through Patiala has nothing to do with the extra water released in river Satluj” said an officer on the condition of anonymity.
