The Muktsar Police on Sunday, arrested four accused persons and booked 23 more found involved in the assault case involving Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Abohar Arun Narang in Malout town here.

But those arrested, booked for yesterday’s unfortunate incident, where BJP MLA Arun Narang was assaulted, were on the complaint of its injured SP HQ Sri Muktsar Sahib Gurmail Singh, not on the complaint of BJP MLA Arun Narang or any other state, district, sub divison, mandal level BJP leader, as no BJP leader has yet given any official complaint about yesterday incident.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Muktsar D Sudarvizhi has confirmed that the “Sri Mutksar Sahib police has acted on the complaint of its SP. On this incident a FIR has been registered at Malout city Police Station u/s 307 (attempt to murder) and other relevant sections 353,186,188,332,342,506,148,149 IPC against these 4 known persons and 250-300 unknown persons, on the complaint of the injured SP.”

As BJP fails to lodge complaint in MLA assault case; police acted on SP’s complaint, we tried to contact Arun Narang to get his views on the non filing of any complaint, but he remained busy in the meeting with his party leaders.

When contacted Ashwani Sharma, State BJP president, he said “today I met Arun Narang and coming back from Abohar. Though police officials today came to record his statement, he is mentally not stable to give statement to the police. Tomorrow, he will record his statement with the police.”

Earlier in the day a high-level delegation of BJP led by state President Ashwani Sharma called on the Punjab Governor demanding immediate dismissal of the state government in failing to protect its citizens and elected MLA’s.

Dubbing the incident of stripping and humiliating Arun Narang yesterday at Maulot Sharma said that never in the history of electoral politics has such an unfortunate incident taken place. This is ugly politics and no human being from the opposition will also condone it. The congress party is responsible for this gory act and is indulging in politics of pettiness and using the farmers garb while attacking the BJP.

Sharma in a press conference after submitting the Memorandum to the Punjab Governor said that BJP is a party which faced MESA in emergency and did not buckle down to the congress. Again, it faced many dire challenges during militancy and came out of it with dignity and self-respect. “The congress party should be under no illusion that it can cover our voice of dissent. We will not be intimidated and our voice cannot be muffled. The forces which want to destroy the peace, harmony and bhaichara between Hindu/ Sikhs will be defeated. We are Punjabi’s and BJP will work overtime to ensure that disharmony will never prevail. We want peace and prosperity. However, at the same time we will not let nefarious designs of the congress party succeed.” said the BJP state President. The other senior leaders who accompanied in the delegation and attended the Press conference Madan Mohan Mittal, Tikshan Sood, Som Prakash, Shewat Malik, Iqbal Singh Lalpura. Dinesh Sharma and Jevan Gupta, Rajesh Bagha, Janardhan Sharma Sushill sharma etc. The delegation also demonstrated in front of the CM residence.
