Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains Leads Relief Operations in Villages to Restore Normal Life

Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister for Education and Information & Public Relations, Punjab, said that ‘Operation Rahat’ has been launched in the flood-affected villages of Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency. To bring life back on track, relief activities have been accelerated and the situation in these villages will soon return to normal.

During Cabinet Minister’s visit today to the Bela villages of his constituency, Harjot Bains informed that the release of water has been further reduced by 10,000 cusecs, and currently, 50,000 cusecs is being discharged – out of which 18,000 cusecs goes into canals and 32,000 cusecs into the river. With the daily reduction in water discharge, conditions in villages near the river are steadily improving.

Harjot Bains said that road networks are being restored to resume transport facilities for people, with major poclain machines and JCBs being deployed for road repair. The water level is continuously receding, and officers from different departments have already begun working on the ground. The Power Department has started repair work on electricity lines, transformers, and poles throughout the affected areas. The Water Supply Department, with the help of NDRF boats, restored the water supply pipeline in Bela Shiv Singh village.

Harjot Bains further stated that the Public Works Department has been directed to repair damaged roads. Health Department teams are reaching every village to conduct health check-ups, while veterinary doctors are vaccinating livestock. Along with officials, panches, sarpanches, youth, and AAP volunteers are serving with dedication and hard work—just as they protected lives and property during the floods, they are now helping restore normalcy to everyday life.

He assured that the worst phase has passed, the situation is being closely monitored, relief material is being delivered to the needy, and fodder for cattle is also being distributed.

Cabinet Minister Harjot Bains added that in areas where farmers have suffered crop losses, the Punjab Government has already announced compensation. Assessments of house damages are underway, and data on livestock losses is also being collected so that details can be promptly sent to the Punjab Government for relief measures. He visited several villages, including Harsabela, Bhalan, Bela Ramgarh, Patti Tek Singh, and Bela Shiv Singh, to review ongoing works. He noted that the youth of this constituency are highly enthusiastic, and the people will soon experience normal living conditions.

On this occasion, Sachin Pathak SDM along with a large number of AAP volunteers were present.
