Capt Amarinder Singh bereaved; brother-in-law passes away

Kunwar Natwar Singh, IFS, an Indian diplomat and politician who served as the Minister of External Affairs from May 2004 to December 2005 passed away.

The information is shared by Jai Inder kaur, daughter of Capt Amarinder Singh and Preneet Kaur on her social media account “It is a very sad demise of former foreign minister, senior leader and my uncle Shri Natwar Singh Ji. I pray to Waheguru Ji to grant Natwar Singh Ji a place in his feet.”

The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has expressed deep grief over the demise of former External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh today. The Prime Minister remembered his rich contributions to the world of diplomacy and foreign policy, who was also known for his intellect & prolific writing. Modi in a post on X wrote“Pained by the passing away of Shri Natwar Singh Ji. He made rich contributions to the world of diplomacy and foreign policy. He was also known for his intellect as well as prolific writing. My thoughts are with his family and admirers in this hour of grief. Om Shanti.”

Capt Amarinder Singh bereaved; brother-in-law passes away. Kunwar Natwar Singh, IFS, is Singh married  to Maharajkumari Heminder Kaur , the eldest daughter of the last Maharaja of Patiala State, Yadavindra Singh, the sister of Captain Amarinder Singh.

Singh was selected into the Indian Foreign Service in 1953. In 1984, he resigned from the service to contest elections as a member of the Indian National Congress party. He won the election and served as a union minister of state until 1989. Thereafter, he had a patchy political career until being made India’s foreign minister in 2004. However, 18 months later, he had to resign after the UN’s Volcker committee named both he and the Congress party to which he belonged as beneficiaries of illegal pay-offs in the Iraqi oil scam
