As per available information, on Wednesday morning, a technical team of Punjab Vigilance team reached the house of Bharat Inder Singh Chahal, former media adviser to former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to do measurement of his city residence. But was met with a locked door and nobody opened the door for nearly half an hour. Eventually, the team left without gaining access to Chahal’s residence.

As per unconfirmed reports, a team of two women, among a total of seven members, were part of the Punjab Vigilance team that arrived at Bharat Inder Singh Chahal’s residence to arrest Chahal, who has been booked in a case of disproportionate assets.

Later the team handed over a notice to the caretaker of the residence and asked him to hand it over to Bharat Inder Singh Chahal or his family members.

BIS Chahal was booked by Vigilance Bureau, Patiala, on August 2 this year under Sections 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2)  of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Chahal had allegedly failed to cooperate during inquiry. He remained Capt. Amarinder Singh’s adviser during his term as CM from 2017 to to September 2021 and during Amarinder’s earlier term as CM from 2002 to 2007 too, Chahal was his media advisor. As per vigilance investigation, the income of BIS Chahal and his family comes out to be Rs7,85,16,905.08 and they have incurred expenses to the tune of Rs.31,79,89,011.89. The gap counts around 304.99% more of their total income.

Chahal is alleged to have obtained properties both in his name and in the names of his family members. These properties include the Dashmesh Luxury Wedding Resort (Alcazar) located in Fatehgarh Sahib, a five-story commercial building situated on the Mini Secretariat road in Patiala, 72 kanal and 14 marla of land at Kalyan village near a toll plaza on the Patiala- Nabha road. Additionally, he is accused of acquiring land in Malaheri and Harbanspura villages in Fatehgarh Sahib.
