Celebration of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh’s 115th Birth Anniversary at Govt Bikram college

A series of program to pay heartfelt tributes to The Great Revolutionary and Freedom Fighter Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh on 115th Birth Anniversary was organized with great enthusiasm at Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala under the guidance of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata, according to the directions of DPI (c) Punjab. A cycle rally and ‘Run for Unity’ was flagged off by Angrej Kaur, Granddaughter of freedom fighter Kartar Singh Ji and Sukhjinder Kaur w/o Late Nk Harjinder Singh (Kargil War Martyr) at 07:00 AM from the college campus that followed the route as scheduled. About 250 students participated in the cycle rally. The indoor program started with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by paying floral tributes.
A symposium on life and Philosophy of Sardar Bhagat Singh was also correlated to the event marking the birth anniversary of the Nation’s hero. A stage play named ‘Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh’ was acted by the students to motivate the present generation through the sacrifices made by Sardar Bhagat Singh at an early age. A Saffron colored environment was created by the students by wearing the saffron colored clothes to live the moment ‘Rang De Basanti Chola’ sung by the freedom fighter. The family of the Freedom Fighter and the War widow Harjinder Kaur were presented a token of honor by the Principal and College Staff.
A documentary film on ‘Problems faced by war widows’ was shown to the students to make them aware about the problems faced by the families of the people who have laid down their lives fighting for the country. The few words spoken by our guest Harjinder Kaur and Angrej Kaur, A member of freedom fighter’s family made everyone present very emotional. The honored guests blessed the students and advised them to live a life free from drugs. The college Principal congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation and encouraged them to adopt thinking and ideology of the martyr.
Celebration of Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh’s 115th Birth Anniversary at Govt Bikram college. The multipurpose hall of the college was named as ‘Shaheed Bhagat Singh Hall’ as a symbol of reverence to The Nation’s Hero. A blood donation camp is also scheduled to be held on 1st October, 2022 following as a part of the chain of events to make the students aware of the sacrifices made by Sardar Bhagat Singh at a very young age. The arrangement of refreshment for the staff and students was arranged by Prof. Ram Kumar. The stage program was conducted by Dr. Apra. The Program was held in the multipurpose hall of the college and the hall applauded with patriotic songs and slogans of Inqlab Zindabad. Towards the end, The College Principal appreciated the efforts of teaching, non-teaching, support staff and the students for making this program a great success. Dr. Vaneeta Rani presents a Vote of Thanks in presence of all staff members.
