Central university of Punjab gave farewell to legendary academician Prof. P. Ramarao

Professor P. Ramarao, Dean Academic Affairs, & Head, Pharmaceutical Sciences & Natural Products Department, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda (CUPB) will retire on 30th June 2020 after completing 41 years of an outstanding career in education and research. To mark this occasion, the university organized a farewell function to felicitate the legendary academician Prof. P. Ramarao on Monday under the guidance of Vice-Chancellor Prof R.K. Kohli. Nalini Ramarao and Mrs Kumkum Kohli graced this occasion as special guests. Prof R.K. Kohli, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. V.K. Garg, Dean Student Welfare, Prof Ramakrishna Waurika, Dean School of Basic & Applied Sciences, Prof Anjana Munshi, Dean Research, KPS Mundra, Registrar, and selected faculty members & administrative staff physically attended this programme, by adhering to the social-distancing rules and COVID-19 preventive measures.
During his professional career, Prof Ramarao has been conferred with several prestigious awards for his efforts in teaching and research. He has completed various government and industry-sponsored research project. He has written more than 140 Research Papers and has nine patents registered in his name. He has worked with reputed institutes, such as Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi; The University of Illinois, Chicago; Harvard University, Boston; National Institute Pharmaceutical Education & Research, SAS Nagar; and Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. He joined CUPB in 2010 as the Professor of Biosciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since 2011, he has been handling the responsibility of Dean Academic Affairs of the university. He has served as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of CUPB from 3rd Mar 2014 to 4th Sept 2014.
He was instrumental in conceptualizing and transforming into reality the important projects of CUPB. He efficiently served several committees of the university in varied capacities. He has been a member of CUPB Statutory Bodies like University Court, Executive Council, Academic Council, and Finance Committee. In his 11-Years of notable service at CUPB, he has given a valuable contribution to the growth and development of the university.
Speaking on this occasion, Vice-Chancellor, Prof R.K. Kohli highlighted the vital contribution made by Prof P. Ramarao in the growth and development of the University. He stated that Prof. Ramarao is the eminent personality in the discipline of Pharmaceutical Sciences and is the pride of our University. He presented a token of gratitude to Prof Ramarao on behalf of CUPB family, and conveyed best wishes for his post-retirement life,
Pro V.K. Garg said, Prof Ramarao has lived a quality academic professional life throughout his career and he has contributed massively to the academic career of their students as well as to the faculty & staff associated with him. During the programme, online messages received from students and faculty members were exhibited to convey respect to Prof Ramarao.
Prof P Ramarao expressed his gratitude towards CUPB Authorities for showing faith in his abilities and providing him with an opportunity to serve the university in a versatile way. He thanked the CUPB Family for providing their support during his service period at the University and for giving a warm farewell
