Chandigarh gets new SSP who had served city beautiful as ASI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Home Affairs for inter-cadre deputation of Kuldeep Singh Chahal IPS of Punjab cadre (2009 batch) to AGMUT cadre (Chandigarh sector) for a period of three years. Chahal is presently serving as SSP Mohali, part of tricity.
Earlier the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has forwarded the name of Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal, a 2009 batch Indian Police Services (IPS) officer, senior most officer among the other two IPS officers, Ketan Baliram Patil (AIG, counter intelligence, Amritsar)and Vivek sheel Soni ( (SSP, Ludhiana rural).,to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) for the UT SSP’s post.
Former SSP Nilambari Jagadale’s term had ended in August. The fresh appointment was awaited since then.
The UT Administrator had sent Soni’s name to the Home Ministry last month from among a penal of three officers. Before clearing the Civil Services, Chahal was an Assistant Sub-Inspector in Chandigarh Police.
Chahal was born in 1981in Ujhana Village in Jind district of Haryana. He did his graduation (BA) from Kurukshetra University and shifted to Panchkula to pursue post graduation in History from Panjab university , Chandigarh. While studying, he simultaneously prepared for government examinations . In 2005, he was selected as assistant sub inspector in Chandigarh police. But his aim was to become an IPS. He keep on preparing for the civil services and his hard work paid and in his third attempt Chahal finished 82nd in the civil services examination.
