Driven by the sheer commitment to foster industry-aligned academia to nurture highly-skilled futuristic workforce for the industry, Chandigarh University continues to scale new heights of recognition and influence at both the domestic and global higher educational landscape which is quite evident through its consistent rise in annual rankings, including the recent QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025, said Advisor to Chancellor Chandigarh University Prof (Dr) RS Bawa while addressing a press conference at Rupnagar.

Prof. (Dr) R S Bawa added, “Within just 12 years of its establishment, Chandigarh University has firmly established itself as a prominent higher education institution, both in India and globally. Chandigarh University has been ranked India’s number 1 private university in QS Asia University Rankings 2025.Delivering yet another stellar performance in the recently released QS World University Rankings – 2025 by Subjects, India’s number 1 private university – Chandigarh University has joined the league of world’s top 231 universities in Engineering & Technology. Chandigarh University has secured top ranks in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Management and Chemistry in the coveted world university rankings this year. In Social Science and Management, while Chandigarh University was ranked number 1 in India among private universities, it was placed among the world’s top 250 universities in this broad subject area. In the Engineering and Technology, Chandigarh University also secured 2nd rank among private universities in India and 231st in the world.Chandigarh University was also ranked among India’s top 20 universities in the NIRF Rankings 2024.”

Sharing details regarding the placements for the academic session 2024, Dr (Prof) Bawa said, “Owing to its academic excellence and impressive placement record, CU has become the most sought-after destinations for leading national and international brands and MNCs who frequent the varsity to hire the talent honed here. CU has once again emerged as a popular choice for as many as 904 recruiters including leading multinational companies and corporate houses. CU students received a total of 9124 job offers across various streams, enabling many students to land in their dream jobs. Last year, one student secured a salary package of Rs 1.74 crore, marking the highest annual package for the batch. Meanwhile, the highest domestic salary package was Rs 54.75 lakh. Over 31 recruiters extended job offers amounting to Rs 20 lakh or above, while 52 companies provided opportunities with annual salary packages exceeding Rs 15 lakh.”

“As many as 752 students from Punjab who were pursuing their higher study at Chandigarh University received 897 job offers from leading national and international brands. Out of total 752 students who received 897 job offers from leading national and international brands, as many as 312 students were from Malwa region. As many as 20 students from Ropar have received 24 job offers from top MNCs.

Rajat Kalotra, a native of Ropar who completed BE B Tech – CSE from University Institute of Engineering (UIE) Chandigarh University secured job offers from two companies including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS NQT- Test Process) (TCS Ninja) and SML ISUZU LTD (formerly Swaraj Mazda Ltd).

Similarly, another Chandigarh University student from Ropar, Prabhjot Singh who also completed BE B Tech – CSE from University Institute of Engineering (UIE) also secured two job offers from KPIT Technologies Limited and Accenture India Pvt Ltd.

Mohit Kaushal from Ropar who completed BE B Tech – CSE from Chandigarh University also received job offers from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS NQT- Test Process) (TCS Digital) and Pushkar Jain from Ropar who completed BE/B Tech – CSE (IS) at Apex Institute of Technology (AIT), Chandigarh University received job offer from IBM India Pvt Ltd (for Consulting business).

Sharing details regarding CUCET – 2025 (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test) Dr Bawa said, “Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test – CUCET 2025 has been empowering thousands of students financially every year. Since, the establishment of Chandigarh University, Mohali campus in 2012 as many as 1.30 lakh students from 28 states and 8 union territories of India and many students from foreign countries have also availed the scholarships offered by CU. Out of total 10,800 students from Punjab who are pursuing their higher education at Chandigarh University, 2192 students have received scholarship during the 2023-24 academic session. Moreover, 100 per cent scholarship has also been given to 54 students from Punjab.”

CU allocates a total budget of Rs 210 Crores for scholarships every year including Rs 170 Crores for Chandigarh University, Mohali campus and Rs 40 Crores for Chandigarh University, Lucknow campus. The main objective of the scholarship program is to reward financially deprived bright students so that they can earn scholarship benefits and study in futuristic courses of their choice at Chandigarh University. Elaborating on CU’s Research and Innovation oriented academia, Dr (Prof) Bawa said, “Chandigarh University has more than 14,700 research publications to its credit and more than 4,300 patents have been filed in varied domains by the students and faculty members of the varsity. Out of these as many as 430 patents have been filed by students from Punjab. In 2024 alone, CU has filed 625 in-house patents while an impressive 1,416 published patents have been filed in collaboration with Ennoble IP and 128 patents have been granted this year.

“To arm its students with research-intensive learning, Chandigarh University has allocated a budget of Rs 15 crore this year. Under Chandigarh University Tehcnology Business Incubator (CU-TBI) more than 150 Start-Ups have been successfully launched by CU students out of which as many as 34 start-ups have been created by students from Punjab alone,” added he.

CU has more than 1300 visiting international faculty members including 560 international research network scholars. CU houses 60 centres of research and more than 3,000 international students from 65 countries study at the varsity and over 2,000 students from CU have visited prestigious global universities to pursue their academics as part of the varsity’s international academic exchange program. The vast research network of CU is not only restricted to India, but it transcends beyond borders; the varsity has established 550 international collaborations with prestigious global universities to arm its students with global academic and research exposure.”

For Engineering students, Chandigarh University has tied-up with top giants in the market that provide hands-on training to students with high-tech labs including Microsoft Innovation Center, Google Android Lab, Cloud Computing Lab, Oracle Academy, Tech Mahindra IMS Academy, Unisys Innovation Lab, EMC Academic Alliance, Microsoft Global Technical Support Center, Red Hat Academy Lab, SAP Next Gen Lab, Infor Lab and Microsoft Azure LAAS (Learning as a Service) platform, BOT lab, Bosch Bridge Centre and Cisco Networking Lab among others. CU also holds accreditation from the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), placing it among the top 0.1 percent of Indian universities with accredited engineering programs and accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).”

In the field of sports, CU has become the first private university in the country to win the prestigious Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA Trophy) in the year 2024 with the highest number of 71 medals at Khelo India University Games.

The students of CU have won 543 medals including 125 national and 68 international medals during 2023-24, out of which 104 players are from Punjab including many student athletes from Malwa region. The University allocates an annual sports budget of Rs 8.5 crore including Major Dhyan Chand Scholarship of Rs 3.84 crore which provides various facilities to the sportspersons free of cost. Currently, 1183 studentsathletes including 562 girls are availing the scholarship at CU.
