“Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in Punjab on February 2. The whole of Punjab is waiting for this. All preparations have been made. The occasion have special emotional bonding with the PM,” said saffron party secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa while sharing this information with the media after reaching Punjab.
Earlier, PM Modi was scheduled to visit Punjab on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti, after attending the Budget session in Parliament in the morning.
According to local sources, a change in the Prime Minister’s programme to February 2 cannot be ruled out, as February 1 marks Guru Ravidas Jayanti and many followers have already left for Varanasi through special train to celebrate the occasion. Devotees from several states of India, including Punjab, Delhi, Mumbai, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir, have started arriving gradually at Kashi.
Even Sant Niranjan Dass of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, who oversees the religious sites in both Varanasi and Jalandhar, has gone to Varanasi. Therefore, the PMO may have planned to reschedule the Prime Minister’s visit to February 2, 2026, so that followers can celebrate Guru Ravidas Jayanti with full fervour.
A Punjab BJP leader said, “We have a meeting in the afternoon, after which the actual position will be clarified. Till now, we (Punjab BJP) have confirmation for February 1, 2026.”

BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa and DC Jalandhar Himanshu Aggarwal could not be contacted despite attempts. Sirsa’s phone attendant said ” his phone is on diversion mode. Please tell me what do you want to know. When asked to get the clarification on PM’s Punjab visit, he said it will get it checked and inform you. But later he too didn’t respomd to repeated calls. When contacted Party’s senior leader Tarun Chugh the person who picked up his phone said ” he is in meeting with party president”.
The Prime Minister’s visit will coincide with Guru Ravidas Jayanti. In recent years, Modi has been travelling to Seer Govardhan, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas in Varanasi, which falls within his parliamentary constituency. Dera Sachkhand Ballan in Jalandhar is considered one of the most revered sites for the Ravidassia community in Punjab. The head of Dera Ballan, Sant Niranjan Dass, has been selected for this year’s Padma Shri award. Sant Niranjan Dass oversees religious sites in both Varanasi and Jalandhar.
