Chemical Examiner Lab Kharar gets four new chemical analysts

To accelerate the functioning of CEL (Chemical Examiner Lab), Kharar, Health & Family Welfare department on Wednesday handed over the appointment letters to 4 Chemical Analysts.The Health department had earlier this week also inducted 58 lab technicians.
Disclosing this here, official spokesperson of health department said that to further reduce the pendency of analysis in the laboratory, recruitment of technical and skilled staff was being made in various branches of CEL. He said that in most of the Forensic Science Labs in India, 25-30 viscera samples per analyst are analyzed per month. He said that due to an acute shortage of technical staff, analysts in CEL are now doing 60 viscera samples per month in addition to 150-250 excise samples/Analyst.
He said that 3 senior most analysts will soon be promoted as assistant chemical examiners and more analysts will be recruited to expedite the procedure of samples testing in the laboratory.
He further said that Punjab Government had taken the several initiatives to upgrade the CEL under which Rs.155.00 lac have been sanctioned in the year 2019-20 for necessary equipments and process for procurement had already been initiated to procure Gas Chromatograph and Mass Spectrometer, UV-Spectrophotometer, Multistate Analyzer and one additional Portable Alcohol Meter adding that he said that “Rs.99.40 lakh had also been sanctioned in the year 2018-19 for Fume hood, Effluent Treatment plant, Microscope, Oven, Cold rooms and other important items for lab.
