College Development Council Meeting held at GNDU

Amritsar-The meeting of the College Development Council of Guru Nanak Dev University was held in the syndicate room of the University. A large number of principals of various affiliated colleges were present.

Prof. Sandhu said that besides giving degrees to students, the teaching falulty should create interest in self-study among students. He said that today we are just producing an army of graduates and postgraduate students without giving vocational education. A skill-based additional subject is required in their syllabi to make them get more job opportunities.

He said that colleges will be able to change the subject of the students after registration on online admission portal and colleges can also put their presentations before the University to start new courses. He said that all colleges needs to present themselves for NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) evaluation, this would enable them to get more funds from government funding agencies and other facilities. He said that regarding this a committee has also been constituted to help colleges to make proposals and solve their problems. He said that FTS (File Tracking System) will be started in coming days at university to bring more efficiency and transparency.

While talking about “Pre-Board study” system, he said that under this, students and representatives of Industries will be able to formulate syllabus and its pattern, which will help in dealing with job opportunities as well as work Efficiency. Discussing the introduction of ‘Innovation Board’ in the University, he said that it include students as well as teachers to enhance the academic atmosphere of the University.

Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vice-Chancellor presided over while Prof. T.S. Benipal, Dean College Development Council presented the agenda of the meeting. Prof. Kamaljit Singh , Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Karanjit Singh Kahlon, Registrar were also present.
