Craftsman to build mini India at Aam khas bagh in the maiden Sirhind craft mela

From March,7, 2020 to March,15, 2020 residents of district Fatehgarh Sahib and of surrounding areas will view a mini India at historic Aam Khas Bagh at Sirhind , during the first ever Sirhind craft mela, to be organized by District Cultural Society, Fatehgarh Sahib.
Around 150 stalls were put up for the artisans, to show case their regions variety, specialty. Artists from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Bengal, Haryana, Punjab, Kashmir, Jaipur, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, Assam, Kolkata, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Pondicherry, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Gujrat, Bihar, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu are coming to show case, sell their handicrafts, jewelery, clothes, juttis, dry fruits, shawls, embroidery, pottery, wooden work, Khuuja, carpets, paintings, decoration pieces, perfumes, aggarbattis, paper products, music instruments, food, footwear, metal work, bedsheets along with other items.
Besides craftsman from Punjab artists from other parts of India will also showcase their craftwork. Artisans will display and sell fine metalwork (tarkashi, bidri, Brass and copper engraving, Fine artware), traditional jewelery (agate, silver, kundan, meenakari), textiles(chicken, batik, Gujarati embroidery)and mirror work, kantha, block printing, kalamkari, zari , sozni and a myraidof other weavings), pottery (Jaipur blue pottery, terracotta, ceramics, block pottery), painting (miniature, glass painting,pattachitra, Basoli) and much more.

Visitors and artists will be welcomed with folk dancing, rural entertainment. Arrangements of variety of food stalls and special events / fun activities for children have also been made. Food stalls with different cuisines were also put up at the craft mela.
Aam Khas Bagh
Aam Khas Bagh is the remains of a highway-inn constructed for the use of royalty as well as common people. It was divided into two parts – the Aam for public use and the Khas for private use by the Royalty.This Royal inn was initially built by Akbar and planned by Mughal architect Hafiz Rakhna. It was rebuilt by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan along the Mughal military road between Delhi and Lahore, and The Royal couple used to stay here in the old building complex, while going to and coming back from Lahore. Princess nazar later on married kritik here. Later on, some additions were made to this monument by Jahangir
