Dark days ahead in Punjab? Engineer’s to go on protest; PSPCL management failed to address their issues

Engineers of Punjab state power corporation limited (PSPCL) and Punjab state transmission corporation limited (PSTCL) has jointly issued a notice for “Protest Action against the Anti Engineer Stance of Management – Non resolution of Agreed Issues and Non Formulation of Wage Formulation Committee (WFC)” to the CMD of PSPCL and PSTCL, due to the lax attitude of its management.
In a notice issue to the management to the CMD of PSTCL and PSTCL, the engineers association has decided “to extend the protest action, against the lax attitude of management regarding the power sector, non resolution of pending issues and non formulation of Wage Formulation Committee WFC”
As per the programme “all Engineers of PSPCL & PSTCL will switch off their Mobile Phones from 5PM to 9AM daily from 07/06/2021 onwards. If the management fail to address their issue, engineers will exit all official WhatsApp groups and return the official SIM cards by 15/06/2021 and all engineers will proceed on mass casual leave.”

The engineers spokesperson said that they have ensured the management that “during the agitation engineers will make every attempt to ensure continuity of supply to all healthcare related facilities of the State. If the managements of PSPCL and PSTCL fail to resolve the pending issues the agitation will be intensified further for which only management will be responsible.”
On the other hand engineers posted at its two thermal power plants- Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Plant (GGSSTP) Ropar and Guru Hargobind Thermal Plant (GHTP), Lehra Mohabbat has already started “Work to rules protest” from June 1,2021, after its management fails to address their genuine demands.
The Powercom management and engineers association held a meeting on 12-11-2020 and the management assured them that they will look into their demands.
Power engineers had also informed the Chief Principal Secretary to CM Punjab, Chief Secretary Punjab, Additional Chief Secretary (Power), Punjab and all the directors of PSPCL and PSTCL about their upcoming agitation plan.
