DC directs Health Department to promote anti-drug campaign to every village of Distt Rupnagar

Rupnagar deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain ordered the Health & Family Welfare Dept to promote the anti-drug campaign of the Punjab Government to every village, under which treatment services have also been provided to patients suffering from drug addiction.

Presiding over the meeting in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner said that under the Punjab Government’s campaign against drugs, action is being taken against drug traffickers on a large scale, therefore, it is the need of the hour that the Health Department should treat the youth to get them out of this quagmire and also motivate them to start a new life.

He instructed Civil Surgeon Dr. Tarsem Singh to provide nutritious food and positive counseling to the patients at the government drug de-addiction center of the Civil Hospital so that the patient can develop self-confidence to quit drugs.

Deputy Commissioner reviewed the treatment services being provided to the patients at the District Drug De-addiction Center and said that the family members of the patients should also be counseled so that the patient can be well cared at home as well.

He said that addiction is a kind of mental illness but it can be cured with will power, courage and good treatment but patient should himself is willing to quit drugs which is possible with counseling.

He also appealed to drug patients that a person can achieve any goal in the world with self-confidence. Similarly, to quit drugs, you only need a strong determination and the right spirit. For which he assured that all the necessary services will be provided to them at the government drug de-addiction center.

DC directs Health Department to promote anti-drug campaign to every village of Distt Rupnagar. On this occasion, Civil Surgeon Dr. Tarsem Singh and Dr. Kanwarveer Singh informed that at present there are 7 patients admitted in the drug de-addiction center who are being treated.

After which the Deputy Commissioner told the Civil Surgeon to immediately send a proposal to increase the capacity of the drug de-addiction center from 10 to 20 beds and instructed to personally visit the center daily and review it.
