“It has come to the notice of Office of DC Patiala that there are certain media reports, misreporting that the DC Patiala has directed cancellation of visas or passports of farmers who burnt their stubble. It is categorically stated that no such orders have been passed” said deputy commissioner Patiala, Sakshi Swahney.

Deputy Commissioner, Patiala, Sakshi Swahney is responding to the query about a news in circulation that the district administration has cancelled the visas or passports of farmers who are not obeying the government orders and are still burning their stubble.

Rather, keeping in mind the best interest of farmers, the DC had advised farmers to contact the District Administration chatbot on +91-73800-16070 for booking crop residue management machinery instead of resorting to stubble burning and unnecessarily facing the consequences of non-payment of Environmental Compensation or Red Entry in revenue records – where they may be inconvenienced by having to go through the process of giving clarifications regarding the red entries or pending EC to whomsoever concerned.

“Our mutual responsibility is to make the environment clean and protect the future of our children, we would urge to work towards achieving the same in a collaborative manner” added Swahney.

As per reports, Patiala district administration has suspended an arms license of a Samana resident for burning stubble in his field.
