DC Patiala stresses wider awareness of government health schemes, strengthening healthcare infrastructure

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has directed the Health Department to intensify awareness campaigns about government health schemes to ensure maximum public benefit and improved healthcare services in the district.

While chairing a meeting of the District Health Society, he emphasized strengthening healthcare infrastructure and maintaining quality services across all government hospitals. He also called for stricter enforcement of the PCPNDT Act and measures to improve the sex ratio.

Under the ‘Yudh Nashyian Virudh’ campaign, the DC instructed officials to enhance the functioning of de-addiction centres and launch extensive awareness drives, especially among youth.

Reviewing the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, he directed officials to ensure maximum registration of eligible beneficiaries. He also stressed improving services and footfall at Aam Aadmi Clinics.

Taking serious note of recent maternal deaths, he ordered a thorough inquiry and preventive measures. He further reviewed the status of dengue, malaria, and chikungunya, emphasizing timely preventive action and awareness.

The DC also highlighted the need to promote HPV vaccination among girls aged 9–14 and informed that financial assistance of Rs 6.95 crore has been provided to 54 cancer patients under the Chief Minister’s Cancer Relief Fund.

Dr Himanshu Aggarwal directed strict enforcement of the ban on the sale of tobacco products near educational institutions in the coming months.

Senior officials, including ADC (Urban Development) Navreet Kaur Sekhon and Civil Surgeon Dr. Shelly Jetly, were present at the meeting.
