Turncoat leader rewarded: Punjab Governor administers oath to new PPSC Non-Official Member

Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Monday administered the oath of office to the newly appointed non-official member of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).

Kapoor joined AAP last year in June 2025.AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann formally inducted him into the party during a ‘jansabha’ at Ludhiana.

Sunil Kapoor belongs to a prestigious political family of the Ludhiana and he was a grandson of late Lala Sardari Lal Kapoor, former Punjab cabinet minister and three-time MLA from Ludhiana West. Known as the ‘Mahatma Gandhi of Punjab’, his grandfather played a crucial role in shaping the state politics. Sunil’s wife has formerly served as a councillor in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation.

His joining helped Punjab cabinet minister Sanjeev Arora to win Ludhiana bye election with graet margin.

Punjab Governor administers oath to new PPSC Non-Official Member

Sunil Kapoor took the oath of office and allegiance to the Constitution, officially joining the Commission as a non-official member. A prominent personality and social worker from Ludhiana, Sunil Kapoor has been involved in humanitarian and social outreach programs.

Chief Secretary KAP Sinha conducted the proceedings of the swearing-in-ceremony at the Punjab Lok Bhawan here.

Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, Chairman PPSC Major General (Retd.) Vinayak Saini, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to Governor Vivek Pratap Singh and Secretary General Administration and Coordination Kamal Kishore Yadav were present at the ceremony, along with the family members and well-wishers of the newly appointed member.
