DC Varjeet Walia & MLA Chadha launch “Saaf Ropar” campaign

With the aim of making the city garbage-free and beautiful, Deputy Commissioner Rupnagar Virjit Walia and MLA Advocate Dinesh Chadha on Wednesday launched the “Saaf Ropar” campaign during a district level function at Giani Zail Singh Nagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner said that “Saaf Ropar” campaign has been launched to develop the city, surrounded by rivers and canals, as the cleanest city in the country. Under which, starting from the main roads of the city, every colony and area of the city will be completely cleaned.
Varjeet Walia said that for about 10 days, 40-50 sanitation workers of the Municipal Council have been continuously cleaning the city on a war footing by using 4 tractor-trolleys, JCB, tractor loader, mechanical sweeping machine, 11 door-to-door garbage collection vehicles. Sanitation workers have managed a large amount of garbage lying on the roads and the main roads of the city have been given a new look.
He said that so far, about 6.5 km of roads have been cleaned, which is also being appreciated by the city residents.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner also appealed to the general public that the goal of this campaign can be achieved only with the cooperation of all of you and it has also been seen that in most of the cleaned places, the city residents are fully supporting the district administration and the municipal council to keep it clean.
Advocate Dinesh Chadha while addressing said that the state government led by the Chief Minister, Punjab Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to providing a clean and healthy environment to the city residents, keeping in mind which the “Saaf Ropar” campaign has been implemented on a large scale and the roads are being made garbage-free on a daily basis.
MLA Advocate Dinesh Kumar Chadha said that Rupnagar will soon be developed as a model city in terms of cleanliness, which is being formally started by cleaning the park of Giani Zail Singh Colony and apart from this, cleaning, beautification and moderenisation of all the parks of the city will also be done.
MLA Chadha said that in the coming few days, every road, every square and every street of Rupnagar city will be cleaned and upgraded as well. He said that it is very important to keep our surroundings, where we live, clean because only if our surroundings are clean, then we will be free from diseases and remain healthy.

On this occasion, he said that the city residents have an important role to play in further improving the system of door-to-door garbage collection, under which it is important that we all keep wet and dry garbage separately and under no circumstances throw our household garbage on the roads.
MLA appealed to the residents of Rupnagar to support the government in this campaign and contribute fully to making our city exemplary. He said that if we start keeping our surroundings clean, then our village, city, town and district will all become clean and tidy on their own.
On this occasion, Nehru Yuva Kendra also presented a play to keep the city clean and Inderjit Bedi presented a painting to Deputy Commissioner for providing good administrative services.
