Punjab’s neighboring state to go for election on Nov 12; ECI decision surprises everyone

In a surprise move, Election Commission of India today announced the schedule of elections in Himachal Pradesh but skips to announce Gujrat elections. As per ECI officials, the commission will announce Gujrat election date after the results of Himachal Pradesh. The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on February 18 next year while that of Himachal Pradesh on January 8, 2023

Punjab’s neighboring state to go for election Nov 12; ECI decision surprises everyone. Normally, election commission announces the poll schedule of poll bound states in one go. But this time the ECI skips to announce the poll schedule of another state and plan to announce after the announcement of first state’s result.

As per ECI, the term of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh is due to expire on the following date. The term and the strength of the Assembly along with seats reserved for the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes, as determined by the Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly Constituencies Order, 2008, are as under:
