Deputy Municipal Commissioner of BMC died to Coronovirus

A 55-year-old Deputy Municipal Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) , died to coronavirus ,on Tuesday, sources in the civic body said. He was tested positive, just two-three days ago.
As per sources, he himself insisted on getting himself tested. On Monday, a civic team informed him about having tested positive, while he was at work. He was tested asymptomatic.
The officer worked at the BMC headquarters in South Mumbai and was attached to the water supply project department of the BMC. He joined BMC in 1987 as sub engineer
He is the first high-ranking BMC official who has died after contracting the viral infection. BMC sources, however, said the exact cause of death was not known yet, and the official was not involved in any field work related to the pandemic.
The BMC recently announced that families of the employees who die after testing positive for the virus would get compensation of Rs 50 lakh.
