Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh has joined as the Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS, Bhatinda. Before joining AIIMS, Bathinda, he was heading the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi (RIMS) as its Director. Prof. Dinesh Kumar is an alumnus of the famed Magadh University from where he did his graduation. He pursued his M.D. in anaesthesiology from Allahabad University in the year 1985. Since, 1986 he was associated with the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and went on to become the Head Department of Anaesthesiology.
He played an instrumental role in start of many new services which also included establishment of a state of art Critical Care Unit, Kidney Transplant Program, improvising the ICUs, setting up of the High Dependency Unit and a 30-bedded ICU at BHU. He has also served in many committees at BHU in varying capacities. He acted in the capacity of Officer on Special Duty for establishing and making operational India’s biggest trauma centre (324-bedded) under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
He has been an enthusiastic, and dedicated hard worker and therefore was entrusted with the responsibilities of Medical Superintendent at AIIMS, Bhopal where he had also served as the Head of the Department of Trauma and Emergency. Academically, he has been mentor to more than 30 post-graduate students, has published many research papers in journal of national and international repute, and was acknowledged with many national rewards for his academic work. His extra-ordinary work and dedication won him accolades for achieving many milestones and bringing the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi (RIMS), Ranchi to be an institute of prominence. He has also served as a member of the Capacity Development Program for the establishment of 07 new AIIMS.
He has been a member of selection committee for various different institutes which include AIIMS. BHU, ICMR, RIMS, and many other medical colleges. He is a visitor nominee for Punjab University, member of empowered committee for University of Potential Excellence, Chairman of UGC Committee for recognition of medical universities and member of Governing Body of RINPAS, Ranchi.
As the Executive Director of AIIMS, Bathinda, Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh envisions to establish this institute as an ultra-modern and futuristic institute to train medical students and undertake research activities which of international similitude. As enshrined in the vision of the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), AIIMS, Bathinda under the supervision of its Executive Director will endeavour towards correction of the regional imbalances in the provision of affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare.
