Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib’s Department of Religious and Civilizational Studies organised a seminar on the life and contribution of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji. SGPC President and University Chancellor Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar graced the occasion as the chief guest while Member Secretary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Fourth Centenary Memorial Trust Darbara Singh Guru was the special guest on the occasion. Students of the Department of Religious and Civilizational Studies, Boota Ram and Harneet Kaur presented their papers on the theme of the seminar.  Badungar said that the main aim of such seminars and lectures is to help the younger generation reconnect with their glorious heritage and culture. He said that students are forgetting icons of the Sikh community like Bhai Kanhaiya Ji and it is the moral responsibility and duty of SGPC to promote the Sikh thinkers, scholars, and personalities. Prof. Badungar added that it is imperative that students take a keen interest in constructive activities like these and said that all SGPC run educational institutions will organise such seminars and lectures in the future. The University Chancellor awarded the students, Boota Singh and Harneet Kaur, with cash prizes of Rs. 1,100 each for presenting the papers. He congratulated the department for organising the seminar and said that SGPC  and the University trust is committed to the cause of making this  University and world-class institution.

Special guest on the occasion, Darbara Singh Guru said that contribution of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji in promoting the tenets of Sikhism is immense and it is high time we as a community take necessary steps to promote the message of humanity and universal brotherhood given by Bhai Kanhaiya to the farthest corners of the world. Earlier, Vice Chancellor of the University, Dr. Sukhdarshan Singh Khehra welcomed the guests and dignitaries and told that the seminar is being conducted under the vision and able guidance of Prof. Kirpal Singh Badungar. He added that the University will continue to organise such seminars for the knowledge expansion of students and faculty alike. In the end, Registrar of the University, Dr. Pritpal Singh thanked the dignitaries and guests for sparing their valuable time. Also present on the occasion were Dean Students Welfare, Dr. BirBikram Singh and heads & In-charges of various departments of the University.
