Dinkar Gupta amongst the contender for DGP Punjab; names sent to UPSC

After PPCC president Navjot Singh Sidhu raised objections over the appointment of officiating DGP, IPS Sahota, Punjab government has forwarded a list of ten Punjab police officers to the UPSC for selecting DGP Punjab. The govt forwarded the list after yesterday’s meeting between CM Charanjit Singh Channi and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
At present Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota (IPS) is working as officiating DGP, after Dinkar Gupta goes on a months leave.
As per information out of these ten names, UPSC will send a final list of three officers. Out of these three, Punjab govt will pick up one officer.
As per sources the panel of ten officers includes S Chattopadya, Dinkar Gupta, MK Tiwari, VK Bhawra, Parbodh Kumar, Rohit Chaudhary, IPS Sahota, Sanjeev Kalra, BK Uppal.
At present S Chattopadya is DGP, PSPCL, Dinkar Gupta , DGP is on one month leave, MK Tiwari is DGP-Chairman-cum-MD Police housing corporation, VK Bhawra-DGP-Home guards, Parbodh Kumar is special DGP-Provisioning, Rohit chaudhary is special DGP-PSHR, IPS Sahota-DGP Punjab, Sanjeev Kalra is special DGP-Railways, BK Uppal-chief director state vigilance
