Doctors remove 2.5-inch knife from Saif Ali Khan’s spine; cops release suspect’s photo

Doctors at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital revealed that a “2.5-inch long” knife was lodged in the spine of actor Saif Ali Khan, who suffered multiple injuries during a robbery attempt at his Bandra residence early Thursday.
According to doctors at Lilavati, Saif Ali Khan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital at 2 AM following a severe knife attack. The actor sustained a major injury to his spinal cord, along with two deep wounds on his left hand and neck. Immediate surgery was performed. Saif Ali Khan is now stable, recovering well, and is out of danger.
As per reports, the doctors have performed plastic surgeries on Saif’s hand and neck, where he was stabbed, added Dr Dange.
“Saif Ali Khan was admitted to the hospital at 2 am with alleged history of assault by some unknown person. He sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a lodged knife in the spine. A surgery was performed to remove the knife and repair leaking spinal fluid. Two other deep wounds on his left hand and other on his neck were repaired by the plastic surgery team. He is completely stable now. He is recovering well and out of danger now,” Dr Dange told reporters.
Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital said that Saif Ali Khan has been shifted to an ICU ward and will be kept under observation for one day, adding that he will recover 100 percent as per their initial understanding.
Dixit Gedam, DCP, zone 9 at Mumbai Police , who is the part of the team investigating an attack on Saif Ali Khan siad that the incident was a ‘robbery attempt” and the accused used a fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan’s house.
Earlier, Dr Niraj Uttamani COO of Lilavati Hospital had said that “Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and was brought in early morning .He has six wounds from sharp objects like knife etc. of which two wounds are deep and one close to his spine. A small piece of foreign body close to the spine was identified. He has undergone a surgery under Dr Nitin Dange, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Dr Leena Jain,Consultant Plastic Surgeon, Dr Nisha Gandhi, Consultant Anaesthesiologist, Dr Kavita Srinivas,Intensivist, Dr Manoj Deshmukh Consultant Radiologist.”
Uttamani also revealed that the knife which doctors removed from Saif’s spine was a “2.5-inch long knife piece’, a news agency ANI report said.

According to multiple media reports, Khan was attacked by the intruder when he rushed to protect his family.
