Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar School of Eminence – A New Identity for Nangal Government School: Harjot Bains

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution, Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains announced that the Government School of Eminence in Nangal would now be named Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar School of Eminence.
Inaugurating state-of-the-art facilities, the minister dedicated 18 newly constructed classrooms built at a cost of 1.24 crore, furniture worth 51 lakh, and interactive panels worth 7 lakh to the public. He also laid the foundation stone of an all-weather swimming pool to be built at a cost of 4 crore, further transforming the school into a center of modern excellence.
Speaking at the grand and impactful event, the Education Minister said that Dr. Ambedkar pursuit for equality in society and created a constitution that is widely respected and accepted. “Today, on this special occasion, we remember Baba Saheb and pledge to follow his teachings,” he said.Dr. Ambedkar emphasized the right to higher education and fought for educational access for all. The minister quoted him, saying, “Education is like the milk of a lioness—whoever drinks it, roars.”
He stated that the appearance of government schools in Punjab is rapidly changing. These schools now offer modern amenities such as security guards, campus managers, and transportation. With advanced science labs, interactive panels for learning, upgraded classrooms, and excellent infrastructure, the Punjab government is ensuring modern education in every government school.
He said A few years ago, the condition of government schools was pitiful—students had to sit on bare floors. Today, quality furniture is available in every school, and our institutions are competing with convent and model schools.
Highlighting revolutionary changes in the education sector under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Education Minister said that Punjab’s education revolution is now a topic of discussion across the country.
He shared the success story of a 12th-grade student who started a T-shirt design business with ₹2,000 provided under the Business Blaster Campaign and is now earning ₹50,000 per month with a 40% profit margin. Another student, Amandeep Kaur, achieved state-level recognition in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
The minister mentioned that promising results are beginning to appear, and the future of students in government schools now looks bright and secure. “We are truly transforming the face of government education,” he added.
Bains also spoke about the ongoing efforts to develop Nangal and turn it into a tourism hub. Funds have been allocated, and the first flyover in Nangal has been initiated, bringing new vibrancy to the region. He expressed gratitude to the people of Nangal for their respect and support, attributing progress to the blessings of the Guru Sahibs.
Although the journey in the education sector is full of challenges, he affirmed that they are working with passion and dedication.
