Dr Harsh Charitable Trust distributed cheques to 122 girls

Patiala-Dr Harsh Charitable Trust is engaged in providing education aid to poor girls of Punjab for the last 11 years. The founders of the trust Dr Gurpal Singh and Dr Harshinder Kaur today distributed cheques to 122 girls who are studying in private schools of Punjab. This trust is engaged in disbursing education aid to girls since 2008 and till date 274 beneficiaries have been provided aid,

The trust helps those girls who have unfortunately lost their fathers to accident or suicide, particularly farmer suicides or who are suffering from serious medical problems and who have no source of income. These girls stay with their parents and are studying in good private schools of their localities. Dr Harshinder Kaur, president of the trust said that the aim of the trust is to make these girls self reliant and also to make them fighters against evils of female feticide and domestic violence . Dr Gurpal singh Hony. Secy.of the trust told that today cheques worth Rs. 2 lacs have been distributed amongst these girls.

On this occasion girls came from all over Punjab notably Jagraon, Gurdaspur, Tarn taran, Nawanshaher, Batala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Ropar, Patiala, Malerkotla,Amritsar,Sangrur and kurali came to collect their cheques.

This time granddaughters of a renowned Punjabi Writer who has unfortunately fallen on bad times have been included in the trust.

Two girls whose parents committed suicide and are now being looked after by their aunt are the new entrants into this trust. 38 more deserving girls have also been included this time. On this occasion Dr Sukhmani kaur, Nanakjot Singh, Deepak Verma, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Raju, Andleeb Kaur, and other members of the trust were also present. Refreshments were provided to everyone and children were given gifts of stationary items while going back.

Dr Gurpal Singh and Dr Harshinder kaur thanked everyone and told that NRIs are the backbone of the trust and it is all due to them that so many girls are getting education aid through their trust.
