ED summons Punjab’s former CM along with his son

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned BJP leader and former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and his son Raninder Singh in connection with alleged Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) violation case, on February 12 and 13, 2026 respectively.

The law enforcement agency has called Raninder Singh on February 12,2026 and Capt Amarinder Singh on February 13,2026 to its Jalandhar office.

Raninder Singh shared on his social media X account ” As law-abiding citizens, we will cooperate fully with every investigation agency. We have absolute faith in the rule of law and are confident that truth and justice will prevail.”

As per available information the ED probe is related to the Income-Tax Department’s alleged findings that some assets acquired overseas were not disclosed during 2005-07.

Capt Amarinder Singh is currently admitted in a private hospital. Capt Amarinder Singh was admitted to Fortis Hospital on Monday, February 9, and according to the reports, the former chief minister has been admitted for a knee replacement surgery. Due to hospitalization he is unlikely to attend the ED probe.

Amarinder Singh was recently in news when he called the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rigid, unlike the Congress which, he said, was more open to consultation.
