Eminent Punjabi NRI met Shah to solve farmers’ issue; Shah assures for early solution-Dhaliwals

Eminent Punjabi NRI, philanthropist , social worker Darshan Singh Dhaliwal alias Darshan Singh Rakhra along with his brother and former akali dal minister Surjit Singh Rakhra and Charanjit Singh Rakhra yesterday met the union home minister and BJP’s top leader Amit Shah at Delhi to resolve the farmers’ issues.
“We, Rakhra brothers had met the home minister Amit Shah at Delhi on Friday and requested him to look into the demands of farmers’ of India. During the meeting Amit Shah patiently listened to the suggestions given by NRI Darshan Singh Dhaliwal to resolve the issues of farmers’” said Surjit Singh Rakhra, brother of NRI Darshan Singh Dhaliwal alias Rakhra and senior akali leader of Punjab.
US-based billionaire Darshan Singh Dhaliwal who was denied entry into India because of his support to the 2020-’21 farmers protest had been honoured with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA), the highest government award for overseas Indians by prime minister Narendra Modi in January 2023.
Darshan Singh Dhaliwal was among the non-resident Indians (NRIs) who interacted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the State Dinner hosted by President Joe Biden at the White House in June 2023.
Surjit Singh Rakhra added that “farming is currently going through a bad period. That is why farmers’ needs the help of the Centre.” He further added that “when Darshan came to know about the present agitation while sitting in America, he immediately visited Punjab two days ago and he had a conversation with the Home Minister of the country, Amit Shah. He said that Amit Shah called him for an immediate meeting and yesterday he had a long meeting with Amit Shah.”

It is worth mentioning that in 2020-’21 farmers protest on the borders of Delhi, Rakhra brothers Darshan Singh, Surjit Singh, Charanjit Singh had organized 24X7 langar, had given free medicines, made shelters for the farmers .
