Expert talk at Rayat Bahra Law College, Patiala campus
PATIALA: Rayat Bahra College of Law, Patiala Campus, organized an expert talk on the importance and necessity of forensic science in crime. The lecture was delivered by Dr Mukesh Kumar Thakar, Professor in the Punjabi University Department of Forensic Science.
Dr Thakar in his lecture elaborated the latest techniques in the field of forensic science which could help in crime detection to a great extent. He said, “It is time of fast communication. Therefore, the networking technology has to work smoothly. In the process of speaker recognition ear, tongue, mouth, mind of a human being play a vital role and scientific parameters can be drawn from it.
There are certain quality nodes also to recognize voice and linguistic analysis. Voice, tone quality and phonetic quality are the main parameters to detect a criminal. Voice modulations help in identifying a criminal. All the linguistic features are monitored and the confirmations of the tests are done through spectrographic analysis. Statistical derivations and assessment of the cases can be done with the latest techniques in the field of forensic science,” he added.
A panel discussion organised on the occasion was followed by an interactive and informative question-answer session between the forensic stalwarts and the faculty.
