The Career Guidance, Training and Placement Cell in coordination with the Economics Dept of Govt. Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala organized a lecture of the topic Employability Crisis in India: Need to Bridge the skills gaps, under the guidance of College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Kusum Lata.

The Resource person for the program was Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Prof. in Economics, Centre for Research in Economics, Punjabi University, Patiala, Dr. Apra, HOD Economics, welcomed the guest.

The guest talking about the employment situation in India explained the major causes of employment crisis in India. The main reason for the employment crisis is the skill gap, what the companies are looking to fulfill and what the potential employees fail to deliver. The individuals have various degrees but are lacking in skills, there is a need to bridge the skill gap by conducting a skill gap analysis. Bridging the skill gap is possible when the companies voice exactly what skills they are looking for in the employees.

Gazal presented a Vote of Thanks. About 250 students attended the program and gained valuable information about the present employment scenario in India. The Principal appreciated the efforts of the organizers.
